Default Looking at an a4

Hey guys im looking at a 2006 a4 quattro with the 2.0T and manual transmission. Seller is asking 6300 for it. We are talking about a trade atm for my truck of similar value. I'm looking at this car to help save a little on gas mileage and because I want one lol. So just looking for any input on what I should look for or if maintenance is too expensive for these. It has had the timing belt, tensioner and water pump done at 90000 miles. It currently has 125000 miles now. Seller also say it has an abs light due to a speed sensor that occurred after a wheel bearing change. Does this sound correct? I don't know much about these cars since I've always owned an f150. Any input is appreciated thanks!

Regular service is more costly than an F150. Oil changes (if not done by you) will run close to $100. I have not experienced other high service or replacement costs. Timing belt being done is a plus. Make sure the cam follower was replaced as well. Those tend to wear out and then can cause costly damage. Not sure about the ABS light problem. Fuel economy will depend on how you drive it. I average about 25 mpg in my 2008 automatic.

I love my car and the odometer is over 166k now.

Remember even thought the car will run on regular unleaded, the car is designed to run on more expensive 91 or higher octane. Running these turbo motors on regular unleaded detunes them and hurts the mileage, so you don't save anything going to cheap 87 octane gas. If anything you force the engine to operate in non optimal conditions which can be hard on them. So will you save gas, yes, but you will need to use more expensive gas to run the car, offsetting some of the savings.
