Looking for sympathy...
Hey guys, im new to the forum, and im also new to audi, o and im also new to cars. Im 18 and got my liscense about 3 months ago, so for my birthday my dad leased me a brand new 08 A4 2.0 T s-line with the SE package in quartz grey with a black nappa leather interior. So i just got the car on friday and took it for a test drive 1 word- SICK. I fell in love with the car instantly (i didnt see it b4 then cuz my dad suprised me) so anyways sunday rolls around and i went to pick up my buddies to show off the new car, and out of nowwhere some piece of **** old man who was suppose to be wearing his glasses was trying to beat the yellow light and slammed into the front of my car at 60mph 2 DAYS AFTER I GOT IT. I crashed the car with less than 50 miles on it and i havent slept since. Please tell me theres someone out there that has been there other than me.. But on a happier note since the damages were only 50% of the cars value they are going to fix the car, (if it was 60% the car wud be considered totaled and i would never have the same car again) the suspension was shot the front axles cracked, both frontairbags deployed, hood replacement, grill replacement, the front rims cracked, electronics down, radiator busted, fuses shot, etc..etc.. i was wondering if the car will ever be the same, my dad gave it to the best bodyshop in NYC hes done celebrity work b4 and says he can fix up the car like new. Wat do you guys think? looking forward to hearing from you and learning wat Audi (and cars in general) are all about. BTW the car is a lease so if the insurance company would have declared it totaled i dont get a new one. They just cut a check to audi for the value of the car and i wud have to wait and go through the whole leasing process again, not to mention the time it would take for the insurance to actually pay audi so i could get the go ahead to lease another, AND i waited 2 months for this car to come from germany i had to special order it because they didnt have the options i wanted available, so i probably wudnt have gotten the new lease the way i wanted it on top of the fact that i wud have to wait MONTHS to finally have a car again and i really wanted it for the summer. So the fact that they could fix it and i get it back in a month is a huge RELIEF to me, and the fact the body shop is very reputable is also a plus. Thanx for the feedback guys i appreciate it.
wow... thats probably one of the worst things i have ever heard, and honestly if i were in your position i probably would have rathered it been totaled so i could get insurance to pay for a new one... but hopefully your mechanic will bea able to fix it like new, good luck with everything...
as for what cars are about, you have found a good forum to browse around on, this one has a lot of good information especially about A4s so pretty much all of your questions should be able to be answered, if not of this thread than another one.

damn dude that sucks....i would talk to the insurance company because its brandnew....a car that has that much damage may not ride properly ever again. if its 100% that guys fault make him pay for it ....NO ONE SHOULD EVER DO THAT TO AN AUDI
Sorry, I don't have much sympathy for an 18 year old kid who can barely spell and has parents who spoil him enough to buy him a brand new Audi for his birthday.
I swear, I will never understand what goes through parents heads these days.

IMHO, the car will never be the same no matter who does the work. At best, I think it may be close...at worst, it'll be a mess. 50% is a lot of damage to a car. I think you would have been better off getting it totaled after all is said and done. Because it's a lease, if the work isn't near perfect, you might take a beating when it's time to return the car. Not to be even more of a skeptic, butmy bet is that youwon't have the car back in a month. (lots of parts to order and lots of work to be done and shops can drag it out once your ride is in pieces)
When the car is done...
Check the frame. Nag the hell out of the insurance adjuster and shop to getit done to your liking.I'd recommend asking for OEM panels instead of replicas. You'd be amazed at the difference betweena cheap replacement door panel and a better quality one. (your doors will sound like they belong on a Toyota Tercel vs. an Audi when you close 'em.
Don't be afraid to do a dozen walk throughs with the shop and do it under good light.Don't pick up the car at nightand try not to pick it up just before the shop closes, so you have plenty of time.
Check for paint lines, drips, shitty welds, door fittings, panel fittings, and drive it before signing off on the work.Open and close all the doors, trunk and hood. Listen to how they sound and feel. Check that everything works too...windows, cd player, turn signals...the works. Don't take the keys and run no matter how psyched you are about getting the ride back.
Keep in mind that even the best shops want to make profit...there's temptation to use cutting measures to pocket the most of the checks from the insurance co.
I'm speaking from my own experience.

after dealing with my car being totalled after a bitch blew a red light and smashed into me doing like 50 mph i can tell you you need to get your insurance company to fight for you and deem the car totalled....its never going to ride the same again no matter what. if you don;t stand up for yourslef the insurance company will **** you. the other peopls insurance company offered me 200 dollars to sign a paper saying that if i had any other injuries that could be linked to the accident i woulnd't come to them for the money (they tried to make it sound like i was cheating them and they expected me to sign the papers that day)
stand up for yourself man you got a great car that was wrecked you are entitled to a brand new car
