any way that my airbox delete that i did would affect my power. its the same thing as the carbono just with a homemade heat shroud. think that i would need the larger piping, or is my ECU freaking out with the larger amount of air and dumping more fuel to compensate and running too rich and killing the power.

You need a vag com to check the fault codes, and fuel trims to be able to tell that. Simply changing you airbox won't cause any change to the way your engine runs. Your ECM can compensate for extra air from a cone filter.

Check any fitting you changed for leaks. Check your DV for being blown which happens on any DV thats not a D version. You definetly have a leak.

thanks guys for all the replies. ill swap out the hard piping for the stock and see if that does the trick... and also take a look at my DV and see if there are any leaks. keep the suggestions coming if you have any more input.

its your intake and your hard piping.....as much as the sound is wicked nice and cool and all that stuff the bottom line is that with your new intake your heatshield has gone to ****, and with your hard piping your also giving the the air extra exposure to air from the engine and the turbo which run hot enough to make ur exhaust manifold glow orange (.....its pretty sweet :-P) butttttttttt thats where you are losing your boost, the stock airbox was designed extremely well because it was so close to the turbo and needed to keep the heat away....

so with the stock airbox and piping you make more boost but less cool noise

annnnnd with the AEM intake you make sweet noise but no boost

solution? the only intake that provide a really good heat shield and what i would consider putting on my car .....consider....as in.....if the price ever came back down to reality is the carbonio intake....it takes audi's intake and keeps the heat shield and even gives you a reported +1 hp but its pretty wicked expensive

as for your pipes....ehh i dunno you could have leak there but in my opinion you would be boosting no where near 10 PSI if you had a leak so i say keep those but sell your intake and get a carbonio or revert back to the stock intake

yeah.... sh*t! more and more that's what im thinking it is... this friggin sucks a$$. definitely wasn't in it for the sound. i was looking forward to the response while maintaining the same boost..... soooooo i looks like i need to go back to stock and attempt to sell the parts. fml. thanks for the input its good to hear a couple different opinions on whats going on.

I havent had any check lights.... also would heat soak contribute to lack of power.

thanks again

You don't need a check engine light to have a fault code. Heat soak is one of the most commonly misunderstood things on this forum. (in all forums for that matter)
In order for you to completely heat soak your intercooler the exterior temp would have to be over 100 degrees and constant driving (like racing around a track) with constant boost applied shoving super heated air through the core on a constant basis. Driving stop light to stop light is literally impossible to heat soak a core, unless its one small *** core! I need fuel data from block 32, fault codes, O2 sensor data, MAF sensor data, and maybe some other data blocks depending on what 32 says.

Most likely caused by your engine now sucking in hot air from the new air filter. Try leaving the hard pipe and refitting the stock airbox. If that solves the problem then either sell the filter or fit it and fit a heat shield around it along with a cold air feed to help reduce the hot air being sucked in.

A carbon air box would work perfectly around the filter to reduce intake temps, but would also cost a fair bit!
