Default MY quattro 2.0t is making engine noises when idle

Hey I’m new to this forum but I just wanted to ask a question. I just bought a used 06 a4 Quattro 2.0t and when I’m stop it seems that my engine makes noises like a diesel engine. Is that right? Also there is a little vibration to the steering wheel.

Let me know if there is an issue or I’m just paranoid

Thats what the FSI's (direct injection) engines sound like, mine has a little roar to it as well, and how little is the steering wheel vibration? There really shouldnt be any or veryy very minute.

Yep, the diesel sound is totally normal. The sound is a part of having direct injection engines. Audi/VW engines do it, and so does my brothers DI turbo GXP Pontac Soltice. The 2.0t engines are also not the smoothest at idle, which causes a little steering wheel vibration when you are stopped at a light. Once off idle they smooth out. Some people who have access to the VAGCOM tools, were able to increase the idle speed just enough to greatly reduce the vibration.

I noticed the same thing when I first got my A4, but as it turns out.. it's totally normal. We just have very noisey engines.

Thanks to all!! Well that makes me feel a little better. I was ticked off cause you pay good money for these nice cars. Yeah the vibration happens when I'm idle then when i start driving it's fine...
Now my dang brakes are squeaking when i stop.. haha

Other than that i love this car its got some nice pick up

take a look through your wheels and see if there is any padding left on them. Sometimes they will squeak when you first start driving in the rain. Or next time your in for an oil change just ask them how much is left on.

Whos we? Squeeky brakes and brake dust just depend on the brake pad and the rotor, if you get some top quality **** then there shouldnt be any of that, mabey a little dust cuz u cant really get away with all of it
