Default new B7 owner no manual/lots of dumb quesitons

Hey all - it did it! I bought a 2006 A4 Quatro 3.0 Cab. Nearly imaculate. So far I love it. I'm sure most of you get it when I say "its even fun to drive it slow". I got it for a steal because the top does not work but it sounds like the classic dirty stater problem. Since I am in Ohio, I have some time before that is important I'm disapointed that it did not come with a manual as the german control are "forign" to me. Im considering buying a manual but havent yet.

- so first one, not so improtatnt but I gotta know: Why do the headlights move down and up upon starting the car? It's cool as hell but it must have a function. Right?

- how do you turn on the flippn' fog lights? They work b/c they light at night when I use the keyless entry.

-is there a function that tracks milage? mine is showing miles remaining, so I know it's doing some math but I haven't found a button that toggles anything.

-does the 3.0 have a timing chain?

1st ? - they move for alignment, just to check they're where in the right spot.
2nd ? - on the light selector, you have to turn the dial all the way clock-wise and pull it out towards you to engage the fogs
3rd ? - the buttons at the end of the right stalk on the steering wheel column, the up and down arrows, those adjust what is displayed on the instrument cluster
4th ? - someone with a 3.0 will have to answer that for a definite answer. but I'm pretty sure it does

2nd ? - on the light selector, you have to turn the dial all the way clock-wise and pull it out towards you to engage the fogs. Pull out once for Front fogs and a second time (or all the way) to turn on the rear fogs if you have them.
4th ?: I have read that it does have an actual chain. Someone wiser than me will hopefully confirm that.

Depending on the package your car has, you may only have the countdown to 0 miles. in 2006 Audi did something really stupid and made the trip computer part of a $1700 tech package, and that could only be ordered if you got the $4500 premium package. So many 2006's don't have the trip computer. 2007 and later, you only had to have the premium package. It was standard in the previous generation. Consumer Reports, and a few other auto magazines caught on to what Audi had done and called them on it, and basically slammed Audi on it in the review. Consumer Reports even had a cute name for it "Short Shrifted". The magazines all mentioned that other cars of this caliber had the trip computer as standard. If I remember, because my Jetta GLX had this option, it consists of two buttons on the wiper stalk. One on the end and one on the bottom.

Looks like I was one of the lucky ones. I have the buttons on the stalk. Those sneaky german engineers...... Figured out the fogs too thanks to previous post and figured out the delay feature on the fogs (walk away lighting). figured that out by myself. Thanks for the help. The number of stupid questions is rapidly decreasing.

Hey Guy, keep a search on Ebay for a manual - they do turn up, and usually at a good price.
