New guy here. quick question
Hey guys, I'm from Hatfield, Ma. Just traded my 2006 Nissan Titan in for a 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro.
I loved the test drive, so decided to trade my gas guzzler truck (11mpg on average).
Well I would like to let you know how much more i love the car, but right after the test drive Tuesday the dealer LOST my key. and the trade in didn't have a spare.
So today they called the nearest Audi dealer and are having a key sent to them overnight, but they have to transport my car there.
So I'm kind of unfamiliar with AWD vehicles, although my truck was a 4x4 I could obviously switch out of it.
But the question is. they have to tow my car to the dealership to reprogram a new key into it. but the car is in a parking lot and it is locked with no way of switching it out of park. do you think this is going to be bad if they load it onto a flat bed?
Thanks for the help. and I'm sure plenty more questions in the future.

Flatbed is your only option but dragging it on the flatbed is not ideal. The asphault could damage your tires a little. Once on the flatbed, it will slide smoothly though. Your AWD will be fine for the short move.
Why cant they wait until the key arrives to move the car? Nuetral is ideal for sure.

iiim not too sure. I've never run into this situation before. I would assume that the programmer is a portable device and could be brought to the dealer I bought it from? they said they would have to tow it to the Audi dealer though...
I traded my Titan at a Nissan dealer who had the used A4 on the lot. and its sitting where the dumbass detailer guy left it before he went to detail it. locked and with the key between here and boston when he went to the Red Sox game Wednesday. agrivates the hell out of me.

so update. apparently my car was towed last night to the closest audi dealer. Fathers & Sons of West Springfield, Ma. and i called them today to get an update. the key was delivered there this morning. it is now almost 3:00 in the afternoon and my car is still sitting there with an un-programmed key.
is it always this way with audi stealerships?
also, does anyone know how long it usually takes to re-program a key? it shouldn't take long at all! right?

It does not take long. I had to have my keys reprogrammed in my old Jetta, which uses the same type of key, fob, and system as Audi's. The key broke off the fob and almost went down a manhole cover! Let me guess, you also don't have the plastic key that the car came with. It's nice to have because, you can at least get into the car if you loose you keys. My certified Audi did not have the plastic key, and it was not required for the car to be certified. The original owner did not include it, or lost it. You might want to check into getting that key. It is about the size of the valet key, and can fit into one of those magnetic key boxes. I had to have the police break into my Jetta once, my keys had gone missing, later they were found inside a ski boot. By the time it was over, the equipment the police used, scratched the door up, which was only made more noticable, because the Jetta was black. That plastic Key was well worth the $50 I spent.
well good news. they got it towed no problem. the tow guy apparently put a couple of dollies under the rear tires as he slid it up onto the tow truck. APPARENTLY.
haha but i finally have the brand new key to my pre-owned A4. and love the thing.
So I just have one more question. as I was so impatiently waiting for my car I was reading reviews on the car, and a lot of people complained about burning oil.
I'm kind of used to that problem because i used to own a 2005 SRT-4 ACR, and that thing went through a lot of oil.
But the question is. It is still under the factory Audi warranty for the remainder of this year. If I bring it to the Audi dealer, is it true that they do some sort of oil consumption test to see if it in fact is burning oil, and will do either a top end or full motor replacement under warranty?

dang. guess it isn't worth it then. thanks for the info!
BTW. car is all set. well. kind of. they took the tint off to inspect it (pretty gay i know) but they are paying to have it re-tinted next weekend for me, since they lost my key. guess i cant complain, haha. I'll get some pictures up soon. even though all of you already know what a white a4 looks like.
