Default Is this normal

I have a a4 6 speed and if I have the clutch in and put the shifter into gear it sometimes goes in roughly(this is occouring before I engage the clutch just moving the shifter). Also after I have the clutch down and it occurs, it shifts smoothly if I still have the clutch down but if I lift the clutch up and push it back down it reoccurs on the first shift. It occurs worst in 1st and third gear and reverse.
thanks
let me know

i also have a 6 speed, and yes, especially when the car is first warming up the gears are pretty rough
after about 5 minutes of driving, the gears get smoother

reverse is not a sychronized gear so if ur having trouble getting it into reverse....let down the E brake and let the car roll either forward or backward ......nothing crazy ya kno just a little bit like a few inches or so it should go into gear totally fine

1st gear is rough when the car is cold, also downshifting from any gear to first (even if the clutch is depressed all the way and stays that way until you reach a complete stop) it is near impossible to shift into 1st because there is a protection mechanism that won't let you until your under 10 mph

3rd gear idk tho..its never given me an issue

I'v never had any problem with my gearbox. Besides the cold, I don't think Iv ever had any gear catch. If its grinding at all be sure to take it in. How many miles are on the clutch? Normally reverse is the first to catch as your clutch goes. Third is unusual...

its not my actual gears, this is before I actually engage the gear by releasing the clutch. Its the actual shifter moving it with the clutch all the way engaged, it feels rough sometimes.
