oil in oil cap area
I have had this problem before but dealer fixed under warranty and they were vague as to what the problem was. It is an '07 A4 2.0T about 65k it has already had a new PCV valve and the piston rings were changed at about 30k. Oil consumption has been very low(1l every 8-10k) after the rings were changed and now has increased(1l every 3-4k). Could the PCV cause this? Or how about the diverter valve. Car is no longer under warranty so dealer trip is not a viable option. Is there a way to test each? thanks

Check out this thread on AZ, includes discussion of DV and PCV failure: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153392
at one time the car went below the magic 1K per liter of oil consumption. Audi then replaced the PCV and the rings. 30K on new rings with good oil consumption. Then it started again. Dealer gave no instructions on break in and the car is not driven hard, mostly freeway miles.
Wow that is weird. I had my PCV go bad (ver E) at 25tmls. Seen the usual oil around filler cap seemed to hesitate when given gas also clutch would shudder (happened one day). Took it to the German Audi folks here and at first they did not know what it could be?! Went to a larger Audi in Wiesbaden and they knew right off what it was. Replaced under extended warranty. Part was 30 Euro's, labor 60 Euro's!
Car never burned excess oil though, and that is at autobahn speeds 85-100mph.
