I just got the high pressure fuel pump installed today and got the computer flashed so i am having stage 2+. I totally love it. I will get it dynod soon and see what the numbers look like but I cant complain about performance anymore. The only thing is that testpipe kinda bothers me. I installed it yesterday and the smell was really bad. It isnt as bad now, I dont know if it makes any sense but I think that it got better with the time. Maybe somebody could explain this. Does the reflashing of the computer have anything to do with it or am I just being crazy? It seems to me that as soon as we installed the new pump and flashed the computer and got rid of the check engine light that exhaust smell isnt that bad anymore.

 

All testpipes are a bit stinky, especially when you first put it on. You might want to check the torque on the bolts after a few drives to make sure they are tight, the metal will expand when it gets hot, so the longer the metal in the gasket sits there, the more it will fill the gap between the pipe and turbo. So it will gradually decrease, but the exhaust fumes will still be stinky as hell.

 

Do you need a fuel pump for stage 2 ?

i was under the impression that it was just intake and exhaust with the ECU Flash.

 

You need intake and test pipe or high flow cat. Fuel pump is for stage 2+.

 

Day 3...test pipe doesnt smell anymore.

 

You were probably just burning off the PB blaster or whatever bolt loosener you used. It will always smell a bit more espescially for people behind you but who cares?!! Did you get that E-bay test pipe? Very well priced.

I told you this mod was great. Imagine the the A3 and GTI guys that weigh 3-400 pounds less and the same mods. Can't wait to get my pump.

Don't remember what tranny you have but this is going on my DSG Auto. It will be so baaaaaaaaad.

 

I got the ebay one that u recomended. Its huge diferrence. I have the 6 speed manual with short throw shifter. Its fun. I find it quite amusing that the day after I got the pump and stage 2 + I got a speeding ticket haha
