Oil Pressure Light
I'm wondering if the audi a4 quattro has a type of a self turn off if the oil pressure gets to low.
I read on a site that on more modern vehicles, the oil pressure sensor actually sends an oil pressure value to the powertrain computer. If the oil pressure reading goes below a specified level, the powertrain computer triggers the oil pressure warning light and, in some cases, shuts down the engine in order to protect it mechanically. I'm just not sure if my car has that.
I'm not sure if my engine is seized or the computer has kicked in and shut the engine off.

No, there is no shut down for low oil pressure. You probably didn't read it correctly either
Just imagine you were driving and got low oil pressure and your engine shuts off. Now you have no power steering, and the event itself could come as a shock to some people who could react erractic creating all kinds of unsafe driving conditions.
Some manufacturers design it so you need oil pressure to start the car initially.
Audi is not one of them.

It could be as simple as a bad oil pressure sensor, or it could be a bad oil pump, bad bearings or a hundred other mechanical issues.
