Default Old problem?..sorry...

2005 A4 B7 Multitronic one remote has stopped locking and unlocking. Works as a key in the ignition OK. Have replaced battery twice, red LED flashes when pressed which obviously doesnt mean the remote is transmitting..but at least the battery is good. Not lazy..have searched here and elsewhere but not a lot under B7. Have tried all suggested resync and reprog processes I can find but still will not work.?..hoping remote is not actually dead. Some processes dont make it clear whether the dead key is the one in the ignition ...does the reprogramming take place there or remotely..?

Does anyone have a sure fire reprogram process for A4-B7... .? Or is it off to the dealer for me..(omigod) ...the other remote works fine...Grateful for any help.

Do you have a manual? It should specify the correct procedure for you car, as it changes from year to year.

Default Rerogram

Yes and have tried the steps in the manual several times to resync...but i thought there was a more powerful reprogramming process not in the manual.

the only reason you would need to go to the dealer is if your immobilizer needed to be recoded to your key. since your key works in the ignition, your immobilizer does NOT need to be recoded.

you say you have tried "all the resync and reprog processes I can find". What specific procedures have you tried? just want to narrow it down and try not to suggest things you have already done.

Default Tried

Ok...in summary

Have tried non working remote in ignition turned On and press unlock then lock, unlock repeated times

Have done the above after locking the door manually with the other good remote key blade...working though window

Basically all the recommended processes i have found are variations on this....including using they key to drive the car then tryiny it...no change, pressing buttons repeatedly while in ignition and in the On position...No change

I suspect that it is to a Vagcom man for me...not at all convenient unless someone has another idea to try

Thnaks very much for your help and interest.....John

have you tried-

use the non-working remote key to unlock/relock the door, manually, then try the buttons, with the key still in the cylinder of the door?

Here's the procedure that I've used on my car:

Unlock the door manually.
Press the unlock button on the door lock.
Insert the key, and turn to on (but don't start the engine).
Press the unlock button on the key fob.
Remove the key from the ignition.
Press the unlock button on the key fob.

Sometimes I'd have to do that a couple times to get it to take.

Default Thanks but no luck

Thanks for those last two ideas but neither worked I am afraid....starting to smell a little like a visit to a Vagcom man...!

Mine got so scrambled after Audi installed my new battery, that the procedures listed above didn't work. Even Audi tried them and gave up. they had to hook the car back up to the computer to straighten it back out.
