Recurring "check engine" codes
Bought my car used from a private party in August. I've have a recurring problem with the "check engine" light coming on. There's no noticeable problem with performance and the light quickly goes off/resets. But after several days (or sometimes several weeks) the check engine light comes on again.
I've brought the car to my local mechanic. The codes are always the same:
00838 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G163): Implausible Signal P0346 Short With Power - Intermittent.
12410 - Air Intake System Flow too Low P307A Open Circuit/Short With Ground - Intermittent.
00104 - MAP/MAF < - > Throttle Position Correlation P0068 Short With Ground.
My mechanic doesn't know what to make of this and suggests I go to the VW dealer to have them look at it, but this is kind of a hike.
Before I take off work to have the car looked at, are there any guesses or suggestions about what the "real" problem might be?
I have a 2007 A4 3.2 quattro, 6-speed. Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Find a more local independent mechanic that specializes in German makes. They'll be way cheaper than the dealership and should be able to help you out. Generic code readers can't always get to the root of the problem with these cars.
