Default Slow acceleration in sport mode

Hey guys I'm new to Audi and have only had my 2008 CPO for about 3 weeks now. The other day I was in a center divider and put it into S to get that little extra power to get out into traffic. Thank God I didn't try to fit into a small area because I floored it and it felt like I was driving a freakin Geo Metro... Any ideas with this? I've read a couple of people talking about some updates and stuff is this something I should bring up to the dealership or is this normal? I know there is turbo lag but as far as I was aware the S was supposed to do away with most of that or am I mistaken?

There is another thread about slow acceleration that might be helpful. Could be the turbo going out to bad spark plugs and host of other smaller issues. Turbo lag in "S" should not be that great. When I put mine in "S" it takes off (2008 as well).

Mine seems faster in S when I give it about 90% peddle verses full throttle. It seems slower when I floor it, don’t know what that’s about.

The only time I get any hesitation is when the transmission has to kick down to 1st when I really gas it coming out of a rolling-almost-stop which I've been told is fairly common on VAG automatics.

All 'S' mode does is raise the shift-points so your engine revs higher and has more time in each gear. Since the hp curve tends to be higher at higher revs, you'll utilize more of your engine's inherent horsepower. Same reason why you'd shift at higher RPMs when you have a manual--more raw power.

I went by the dealership today and they said ya thats normal. I guess I know not to pull out in front of any semi trucks. It seems to do better if I roll onto the gas rather than flooring it so I guess its a lesson learned. Thanks everyone for your input and advice.

Have you read the stickey up top. Any small tear in your DV or a PCV failure can cause loss of power and both sould be replaced.
