towing with A4 S-line quattro ?
so ive been doing some research on this topic but i cant find anything about peoples experiences (good and bad)
i have a 2008 A4 2.0TQ S-line and am looking for info on towing with it. i do not have the need to tow yet but i am looking forward to getting a jetski or snowmobile within a year or so and would need a trailer to move them. (i live near a lake but dont have a dock to leave the jetski at so it has to be trailered to a put-in)
i know that a handful of companies make trailer hitches to fit the A4 but what about the S-line? i know there is a slight difference in the rear bumper and exhaust (single for some years but mine has dual). some websites also mention 'slight fascia trimming'. this is not ok with me, i wouldnt mind removing an insert if possible but i dont want to cut up the bumper just to fit the hitch.
so if anyone has any experiences please let me know what you do and how.

All 2008 A4 models came with the S-line body by default. If you can find someone that makes a trailer hitch that fits the 2008 Audi A4, it *should* fit your car. There is no need for a special "S-line" version.
I would imagine the car would be just fine towing something like a jet ski.

yea i figured just about any hitch would fit as long as it can fit around the dual mufflers. i know there isnt a body kit difference but you know the s-line has the color match bumper insert thing between the muffler tips instead of the black plastic piece on the base models. thats the part i want to avoid cutting. i saw on here that some people talked about chipping the ecu and other stuff but i dont think that necessary for what im looking to do
I wouldn't buy the "hitch-of-the-day" made in America, for the simple reason that all the models I've been scouting for were bolted on on the reserve wheel well. That is against of any physical law and it's a dumb idea. You wouldn't be able to tow more than a feather, because, if you look well at the reserve wheel well, you'll noticed that it's made of plain metal sheet.
The alternative, obviously more expensive, is a Westfalia hitch - it costs around $500-$600 and it mounts on the body's exterior frame, right behind the bumper ( you'll probably have to take the bumper off in order to mount it ). I am looking forward myself to buy a Westfalia as it definitely looks it has more engineering in it; so far the price and the electrical part he Let me know which you do you chose.
P.S. Some dudes around here are really adamant that towing with A4 is really a bad idea. Disregard that as the whole Europe is towing crap around with sedans, unlike Americans which think that every Audi A4 owner needs a 10 mpg Ford F-150 just for towing.

I think there are some alternatives to http://www.eurohitches.com/ but I'm not aware of them yet.

wow thanks. awesome info/links. i will def. get one of those when i need it. i love the fact that you can remove the ball and no one will see the hitch, that is a brilliant idea. those germans are so smart lol
The manual says that Audi doesn't recommend towing, but says not to go past a class 2 hitch if you do. The one mentioned that bolts to the sparetire well is ony a class 1 hitch. I've seen that one on a B6 body. the owner used it to mount a hitch mounted bike rack to the car.
