Default Turbo inlet and intercooler joint oil leak!

Hi folks.

I just bought me my first Audi A4 2.0 TDI. Since I'm not used to car installed me turbo. I got a question to ask.

I got an oil leak on the turbo inlet and intercooler joint.

Some say that is normal. Shall I be worried? Not in a state to fix it at the moment. Used my two year saving to buy the car. I'm broke at the moment. Oops really don't believed I confessed that. Anyhow your help of advice will be appreciated. Thank you

Pretty normal. Almost all turbo cars get some amount of oil in the cooler hoses. Mine drips from the same spot as yours. I suggest you read the sticky on the page about problem areas and the number one thing you need to worry about is the cam follower! They claimed it was fixed by 2008 but it was definitely not because mine just wore right through at 111,000. Oil drops and leaks are common and I would worry about them.

Sexy6 thank you for your reply. I thought so too because everybody on the internet I encountered confirmed it. I saw a friend who is a mechanic he told me to clean it and observe it for a week even him he said it was normal. The stealer was asking 200 bucks only to check the problem.

When I arrived home I opened the clamp and got it tightened again allowing the hose to sit well to the end of the joint of the intercooler. Cleaned the area a little bit with a clean material using no detergents. I already made 200 km journey. I controlled it to see if there were any leaks. So far so good. No leakage of an oil not even a drop. Will be keeping an eye on it. Will update in the next two weeks. Once again thank you.

Default Tsb

hey buddy just wanted to tell you I found a TSB about oil being in the intercooler. Audi says it's normal to find 0.2 quarts of oil in the intercooler. They say it comes from gaps in the cylinder head cover splash shield and it's not considered a defect... lol I guess it's good it drips out, at least it doesn't build up...
See below...

"The plastic welded sections of oil splash shield part of the cylinder head cover (Figure 1, blue area) may have gaps between them at the weld point, or may feel loose (Figure 2 and Figure 3). Extensive testing has confirmed that this condition does not cause any problems and is not a defect.
Up to 0.20 quarts of oil in the intercooler are within normal conditions and do not require further action.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
^ Do not exchange the cylinder head cover under this condition, as warranty will be declined. Gaps in this part are not a defect.
^ Up to 0.20 quarts of oil in the intercooler are within normal conditions and do not require further action"

Thank you for the reply. So I've read but mine was leaking at the end of the inlet hose pipe near the MAP sensor. Since I tightened the clamp I've not realised any leak.

The other thing I'll appreciate to see the figures 1,2 and 3. It's not showing on your post. Thank you once again.
