It depends on what you want. I have no desire to mod the car I have. I searched for my 2005 3.0 V6 cabriolet. I just didn't like the 2.0T when I was testing the 2 cars side by side. That's my personal opinion. The 2.0T was quite loud at idle when it was in drive, almost like it was a diesel car. I have a 2.0T TDi VW, and it seems just as quiet. I did not think the 2.0T was as refined as my 3.0, and for a luxury car maker with a high price, I wanted the most refined, strong engine for my convertible. I love what I have, but that is just my opinion. Hope this helps.

I am also looking at buying an A4 and came to these forums looking for big differences between the 2.0 and 3.2. How many miles does it take for carbon buildup in the 3.2? How do you fix it? Does a modded stage 1 2.0 spank a 3.2? What about fuel economy? So many questions lol

I'm not sure about a modded 2.0 spanking the 3.0 or 3.2. However, if these cars can go 200 MPH, you better have an amazing mod. Does anyone on this forum go over 200 MPH?

I think a stage 1 2.0T is pretty close to the 3.2.

2.0t will stage 1 wins handily. the 6cyl has nothing up top. Stage 2 for harly any more cash rapes the 3.2.

Stage 1 is 241hp and 292tq.
Stage 2 is 270hp and 323tq. just by adding a test pipe and can be had on Ebay under $100.

3.2 motor is 255 and 243tq
3.2 motor is 256 and 258tq CHIPPED LOL

Tourqe is what gets these cars moving. I drove a 3.2 and it felt like it had no ***** up top and I was unimpressed.

I've head of the turbos going in the 2.0T's. That's one of the reasons I spent some time looking for my 3.0 V6. If modding is the cause of the premature falure of the turbos, then more mods being available for the 2.0T is not really an advantage. I know this is somewhat of a 2.0T enthusiast site too, I'm just trying to help the man who is looking for his A4.

Bah...Turbo failure.

100K on my B6 (similar Turbo)
85K on my B5 so far chipped
36k on my CHipped stage 2 plus GTI (same turbo)

I see nobody on this forum or the GTI forum (a couple maybe) Thousands of guys on that forum.

These are safe turbos.

Well, there are things that can go out in the 2.0T FSI's but the turbo is not one that I have seen. The other common items (PCV, DV, and Coil Packs) are pretty easy and cheap to replace. And if you have a guarantee, no need to worry anyway. The 3.0 is an excellent engine, but the 2.0T is newer and more available. As far as performance, you would not see any differance between the two except higher MPG on the 3.0.

Are there TDI's available were you are from? Another great option for power (torque) and excellent fuel economy is the 2.0TDI 140-170hp, 2.7TDI 170/180hp, or the 3.0TDI 204-233hp.
