Default Whining/Squeal sound..

Hello,

I have recently started to hear this whining sound on revving and slight acceleration when my car(B7 2.0tqm) is running cold. Here is a video of what it sounds like...

Audi A4 B7 whining noise. - YouTube

If you can hear it sounds like a high pitch squeal. I can't hear this once the car has warmed up though.

If it is power steering it should change when you turn the steering wheel. Not sure about turbo. Water pump, but why would it go away when the car is warmed up? Belt noise? Sorry, afraid I am not much help.

its hard to give a definative answer....... you'd have to start ruling things out. It is louder when driving...? (ie; load on turbo?)

You can have someone rev it for you and with a 17mm wrench apply pressure and release tension from the serp belt tension and listen to changes in the sound.

You just have to start going from system to system ruling them out.

That sound isn't consistent with any known problems i am aware of

Are we talking about the "whirring" sound every time you rev, or the occasional chirping/squeaking sound?
