Default Winshield Wipers Cost Almost $100?!?

This is my first Audi -we took it to get an oil change and while I was there asked them to replace the windshield wipers because they were so awful. The mechanic told me he had to order them and they would cost $90. Does this sound right to anyone? He told me the reason is because it uses different hooks than standard wipers.

I am trying to do a bit of googling and can't find anything to support this!

Dude is trying to rip you off... BADLY. I have autozone wipers on mine. 20 bucks for the pair. They come with a universal mount. If you don't know how to get them on, the autozone people should be willing to help you.

That's crazy - so he was basically lying to me when he told me the wipers use a special mount that differs from the typical elbow clip?

if they are streaking, just go to a CVS/Walgreens or something and get some alcohol wipes and run them through the blades. That actually can help quite a bit.

Buy just the blade replacements at the proper length. Slide them into the stock housing. That is the cheapest for sure. Works perfect.

No he wasn't lying to you.... The only thing that doesn't seem right is the fact they had to order them.

An advisor or technician doesn't make any money replacing wiper blades. Trust me.
I'd have to replace 40 sets to make an 8 hour day.

Audi's contoured blades are better than anything you'll find at Autozone. They are cheaper for a reason. Cause they suck.
