Default 09 A4 2.0 engine failure (valves in cylinders!)

Last Friday I had a misfire and then the engine shut down. Took it to the dealer and there were valve parts in 3 out of 4 cylinders. Only 16,750 miles and all services have been done. No one has ever seen this damage with chain drive cams. I have bought a '12 engine, 09 was out of warranty due to age, not miles.
Has anyone seen or heard of this kind of failure in the 2.0 TFSI engine?
I will tear down old engine when I get a chance to see if the cause can be determined. JD

My bet is that the chain tension-er failed and the chain skipped a tooth or two and crashed the valves into the pistons. Let us know what you find.
