Ok, I have a b5 a4 1.8TQM. Today was hot like hell, so I turned on the A/C, as soon as I turned it off, my gas pedal didn't work and I could not rev my engine. My engine was rattling like crazy, felt like it was going to stall. A couple weeks ago, it happened the same way, but it felt like power loss when I accelerate. I just changed the spark plugs, and cleaned my K&N filter and changed cabin filter. I don't think it has anything to do with it though. Anyone have any ideas? I need your help before I take it to a shop and waste $$$.

you say you cleaned your K&N filter, did you use the K&N cleaner? if so it's probably a dirty MAF. you need to use electronic cleaner spray or they make a MAF cleaner spray.

 

my car's a 1999.5, the car drives normally now, but might happen again, since this is the second time. but when it happened, the car won't move because the gas pedel won't work and won't rev the engine. I also cleaned it with the K&N restore kit. MAF seems to be clean and ok.

 

Scan for codes even if you don't have a CEL.
