09 A4 oil consumption "aftermath"
My Audi went to stage 2 oil consumption at 65k mi, if the motor had this problem and Audi had to go through all of their diagnostics before replacing the parts that inevitably would be affected by the problematic "new" design of this motor. It seems there would be happier Audi owners if they would just have replaced these parts before having to go through stage "one" and then more wear and tear on the motor itself as the deterioration increases to stage "2", which is not where this actually ends for some Audi owners. This problem because it has to do with the oil itself affects all the moving parts of the motor itself, I have experienced this first hand. These are precision motors, and can have faults or flaws in design and I dont mind that. What I do mind is that because of the nature of the problem I feel they should then warranty the engine itself after the issue related to oil consumption because the extended problems are yet to come, I bought this car used and after the stage 2 "oc" diagnosis and replaced parts the motor blew after driving it a total of 38k mi due to timing chain stretch. I gotta say with regular oil changes and highway miles I think Audi designed that chain with the same precision as the motor which stands to reason it would have been affected by the oil consumption problem.

Thats because most dealers aren't replacing the chain and tensioner with the motor overhaul.
We were doing it on every one until Audi stopped reimbursing dealers about three months ago. We now sell them to the customer which sucks... But 400.00 to save your motor over the long run isn't the end if the world.
