1012 A4 2.0T vibrations at 20mph
I bought a 2012 A4 2.0T a year ago and after about 10,000 mi it started to vibrate a bit at 20mph causing a vibration rattle in the dash at the driver's side. The vibration occurs at both a flat 20mph, as well as when coasting down through 20mph when coming to a stop. It doesn't vibrate when accelerating up through 20mph though. The dealer replaced the driver's side A/C vent, but the vibration-induced rattle is still there.
Its in the shop again but I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this?????

all the rattles i get from the b8 dash is coming to be the speaker cover up there by the a pillar on the driver side.
i just ask you to be understanding that diagnosing stuff like this sucks really badly and is time consuming!

Very interesting that you mention speed, 20mph. if something were loose in the dash i would expect it to rattle also if you go over bumps, like a speed bump, or something like that. the silver inlet on my door was loose and would rattle when i played music really loud or whenever i went over big bumps. i was able to take it in and get it fixed.
if its something on the dash surface i would say drive 20mph and make it rattle, then start feeling around and see if touching certain areas makes it stop. that's how i found which part of my door was rattling. good luck.

AudiSfour,
Thanks for the comments. In the end, believe it or not, it was the tires having cupped. What's weird is that it caused the car to vibrate in just that 18-22 mph range. You would think if the tires were cupped, the vibration would increase with speed and be the worst at 60 or 70 mph, but in my case once you get over the low twenty's it was gone completely. The original Goodyear's had only 30k on them and I had balanced and rotated every 5k. When I took it in at 30k, Discount Tire confirmed the cupping and said Goodyears often wear funny and they weren't surprised by what they saw. I bought a set of Yokohama YK580's on the spot and the problem's gone. Fortunately Discount prorated the the Goodyears as they had about 60% of the tread remaining, plus had a $100 rebate going on for a couple days on any new purchases, so I saved $200 on the Yokohama's, but it certainly took care of the problem.
