Default 2009 A4 Chipping

Hey all,

I'm new to Audi's and new to really caring about cars and what I drive in general. However, I just bought a brand new 09 A4 2.0 Turbo and am loving it. I have read a ton of posts on this site, including the "READ THIS" posts for newbies, so hopefully I won't waste anyone's time.

It seems that he newbie guides seem to be written before the B8 models. So I have a couple basic questions I'd like some help with.

1) What are the known flaws/issues I can expect to deal with?
2) What mods can I do without voiding my warranty?
3) What are mods can you recommend to get the most bang for my buck, either looks or performance wise?
4) Your thoughts on chipping, and a recommended brand. At 211 HP, its not "weak" but not a power machine. I'd be interested in chipping depending on warranty, safety, and performance concerns.

Thanks all! From what I've read so far you are a helpful bunch. I look forward to sticking around.

Matt

I've done quite a bit of research on the chipping since that time, so I'll post the answers for you and anyone else who comes across this thread. These answers are based on discussions with APR reps, APR dealers, on this and other forums, and even calling and talking to the service manager at an Audi dealership.

1) What are the known flaws/issues I can expect to deal with?
Short answer, nothing really. It is really pretty safe. The Audi service manager told me that it is harder on the car in general, so things like drive train, turbo, etc, may not have the longevity they would with a stock car, but there is no direct proof or list of known items that will fail.

2) What mods can I do without voiding my warranty?
I specifically asked the Audi dealer about how chipping affects the warranty. This may vary from dealer to dealer, but my dealer told me they never have voided a warranty over it, and they've had cars come in with repeated blown turbos.

4) Your thoughts on chipping, and a recommended brand. At 211 HP, its not "weak" but not a power machine. I'd be interested in chipping depending on warranty, safety, and performance concerns.
My dealer recommended APR, and all my research points to the same thing. They seem to be very legit in terms of claims, value, support, and safety.

Hope this helps!
