2009 A4 Does Not Recognize iPod Classic
I just picked up my new A4 last week which came with an iPod interface. I plugged in my iPod Classic (bought in Nov 08) and it charges but will not connect. It says that it's initializing but I can never get it to go beyond that. I took it back to dealer and he tried an iPhone and older iPod model and they worked fine. I called Apple and they had no answers.
Has anyone experienced the same problem and/or can someone suggest a solution?

Dude, if you search the forum I had the same issue. It's your cable. Has nothing to do with apple and everything with whether you have navigation or not. No NAV = blue grommet cable, NAV = black grommet cable... have dealer provide you with the correct cable. btw there was a bad batch of black cables so if that's what you have then have it swapped out.
I have an 80gb classic that did not work with the black cable and I do not have nav. Once I got the blue cable it worked just fine. It's the latest generation ipod. You really should not have any issues with it so either your interface has a problem or it's the cable. Definitely NOT the type of IPOD and I emphasize that.
You are not crazy - my '07 S6 will not read my 120G iPod classic - it just initializes the hell out of it, but will never start. On the other hand, an old 8G iPod Nano (? tall, skinny, has a pretty large display window - was my kids...) works flawlessly except it is only 8G! I am ready to buy a larger iPod, but need to know at which point does the MMI system become overloaded and give up -"TOO MUCH INFORMATION!!! STOP!!!". Thats what I imagine anyway.
Any ideas - will any one's MMI (this is straight from the factory, no mods) plug into an iP{od with 32G of music on it? 60G? My classic has 120 or 140G and she just won't fire up...
