2011 A4 engine shot
I have a 2011 A4 Quattro Premium Plus with about 68000 miles. It has always been serviced. I was actually driving past the dealership and it suddenly started to misfire and the engine light came on. I pulled it in and at first they said it might be the timing chain which would be covered but when they looked closer they said 2 cylinders are bad and would probably need a new engine. The car still looks like new inside and out but replacing the engine might be close to 10 grand with labor. That's pretty close to the blue book value of the car. This is my Wife's car and she is very soft on it. It has only been up to red line a few times when I drove it. I bet it has less than 100 miles in S mode. Anyone ever heard of one of these engines failing with so few miles?
Well the dealership called back and said the engine is not shot. It seems some carbon got lodged in the valves and caused the low compression. They cleaned everything out and said it is now running good. Whew!!
