Default 2012 a4

Just purchased a new 2012 A4 and love the car with one exception. When starting from a standing start, I often get a hesitation that often stalls long enough to make me think I might get hit by oncoming traffic. Any ideas what it could be? I have about 10,000 miles thus far.
Thanks.

Default 2012 A4 Stalling

Thanks for the replies thus far guys. I know there has been alot of duscussion on "turbo lag" in other threads and while I do notice some of that each time I accelerate I don't think that is what I'm getting here. Seems if it was the turbo it would do it most every time? This happens like once out to 10 start from stop accelerations. It feels like to the car is flooding our or having mixture problems. Also even though I have put almost 10,000 miles on the car in two months (most all highway) I have a fair amount of carbon or black buildup on the tailpipe.

throttle by wire...... when you jam on the accelerator there is a delay. If you increase speed gradually you shouldn't have a problem

I do notice the delay.....actually more in reverse. I just noticed the black/carbon/soot build-up at the exhaust tips the other day and would like to hear the response on, if this is normal. I'm a new owner of a 2012 A4 as well, 2500 miles.

I've noticed a slight lag also...but....it is when I have it is "D". If I switch it to "S" sport, then the lag I notice is gone.

Since my initial posting I have tried to identify a specific pattern (after long runs, when cold, in specific gear or manual shifting though its and auto shifter). Nothing yet. Actually has not done it but once in the last week. Thought it may be fuel related though I purchase the highest octaine available where ever I fill up.

This is nothing new. If you search on this site, a lot of people have complained on this problem. It's caused from the throttle by wire. The natural delay from this system, plus the turbo lag can make the hesitation feel like and eternity (especially in oncoming traffic).

Some people complain about the car taking off because they mash the gas to try to shorten the delay, but it doesn't work that way.

Thanks for all the replies. I think you guys are seeing something different with the turbo lag and the throttle by wire bit. Yes, there is some of that too but what I'm feeling (and seeing) is more like an out right STALL except the engine does not die. Funny thing is it has not done it once since my original post a few weeks back. Was happening a couple times per week. As I think I said, may be bad gas related even though I have never run anything but "name brand" 93 octaine like the dealer recommended.
Thanks
JT
