Hello folks,

I'm completely car illiterate, so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Recently I've had a problem pop up while trying to accelerate. The car behaves completely normal unless I give it too much gas, then I lose power and the car sort of shudders(for instance, on ramps to the freeway). The engine light blinked on last time, but went off right after. It's especially noticeable going uphill, or in sport mode. It's only at higher rpms that it happens.

Anyway ideas? I've been googling but have seen a million different answers. I'm hoping it's something I can fix myself(like ignition coils) because if I have to take it into a shop after work or something I have no idea how I'd get to work or anything. I'm not close to any public transportation and I'm a single guy with no car to borrow.

Could be an issue with the fuel injectors?

 

Go to your local auto parts store and have them read the codes. My manual tranny B7 did something similar, but to took 4 months before the light tripped and it threw a code. Under heavy acceleration in upper gears it acted like it was missing and it turned out to like I suspected, a bad coil. Hopefully the code will give you your answer.
