I visited the local dealer to find out that the current selection of A4s is well, exactly 2. That being said, the salesmen said they had more on the way. I have always wanted to order a new car and he mentioned that the order process was an 8-10 week wait and that in the worst case it would be around 12 weeks. Has anyone here ordered a new Audi? Are the time lines real? In general how was the process?

 

Well I see no one replied to my post, so I guess I will. I went and ordered my new A4 last night. A4 Prestige, Misano Red, S-Line, they tell me 8 to 10 weeks. Can't wait for it to arrive!

 

Good luck. They usually have a good idea as to delivery time-lines.

 

My buddy ordered a BMW. I think he said it took 5 weeks. We live in the west and half the time was by train across the country from the east coast.

 

I ordered mine on 10/24. The dealer told me that they take 3 months to build but that he could change the specs on one that was allocated to him and scheduled but not started yet. That reduced the wait to 2 months. Hopefully that's true, and it will come in at the end of December.

 

i got mine ordered. dealer says it should take about 2 weeks for me.. lucky? I am from Mass.

 

My dealer said 6 to 8 weeks, It arrived in 8weeks the wait is totally worth it. You should also look online for different audi dealers and get one that you like, get it transfered in to you or say you will go somewhere else usually the cars magically appear after you say that.

 

If he said 2 weeks, it's probably not a fresh build....he probably found a car like you ordered on the dock or at another dealership. It takes 10 days just to cross the Atlantic...gotta add in build time, shipping from factory to the port, customs, port prep, shipping to the dealership from the US port, dealer prep, etc. Dealers also have set dates that are available (reserved dates) for build. I doubt there was one that soon available anyway...

I ordered mine on Sept. 28, production was moved up to a Nov. 27th build date, and it'll arrive at the dealership on Dec. 28th.

 

I'll chip in my timeline here...ordered 8/29/09, factory picked up order last week of September, shipped to Houston 12/7, arrived @ port 12/14, delivered to dealer 12/21, picked up 12/22. Audi A4, Prestige, S-line, 6MT, Brilliant Black, driver assist, exhaust tips, and wheel locks. Absolutely love it!
