Default B8 Chip

Ok So i'm looking to buy a new car sometime mid March and while I consider my options I was wondering what chips give the best power boost on the B8 A4.

Most likely I'm looking for a 2.0T with Premium plus and sport pkg. I prefer options you guys have already tried but if theres anything that you've heard about I'm also interested.

Also, I was looking on the APR site today and I was wondering if the same chip that works on the B7 will work with the B8?

As of now, GIAC has released the only chip for the B8:
http://www.giacusa.com/programs.php?mpid=118

As far as I know, the the B7 chip will not work on the B8 because they are two different engines. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.

woah.. these seem like pretty good numbers..

"GIAC performance software for the 2009 B8 A4 ® 2.0T smoothly delivers a 22-34 hp and 34 - 48 ft/lbs gain. For optimum perfomance the software must be coupled with exhaust upgrade.

GIAC is proud to be the first to offer a fully encrypted switching flash for the Tiptronic® B8 A4® 2.0T. GIAC developed Flashloader programming tools flash this UDS protocol platform directly through the OBD port. When the manual version B8 A4® 2.0T is released in February power specs will be updated to reflect the higher output calibration that will be used.

i understand the pro's of updating the chip. what would be some cons?

I do not know the details of their revised map. The biggest con is simply overboosting the turbo. The BMW guys are playing with their 3.0 twin turbos...I saw at least one with burned turbos using a JB3 ECU..very expensive. When you raise the boost, you lower your life expectancy. The question is how much 'overdesign' does Audi have in this system...

APR has just released an ECU flash as well

HP- 234 (+40 over stock @ the wheels)
TQ- 333 (+71 over stock @ the sheels)

This was on a 93 Octane program, so not sure what the #'s would be on 91, which is what GIAC's results were based on.

I have emails out to GIAC and AWE regarding the availability of the chip for B8 cars. I know the max gain depend on upgraded exhaust and this ...according to AWE is not currently available for the 2009 A4 2.0T 6MT cars.

STaSIS has been working with GIAC and has released a ECU for the B8 cars. They have a dual exhaust setup as well.

available now....

$1495 for a engine tune? is that the ECU upgrade?

is that the norm price for something like this? also are all ECU upgrades done at select dealerships?
