Default Can you put navigation in a 2009 a4 that previously didn't have it

My friend said that all audi's are pre-wired as if it were going to come with every option. That being said, he said that you can buy the nav system and screen and just pretty much plug and play. Is this true? Does anyone have experience with this or know if this is doable?

Thanks

Just put the caractere bumper and 19" wheels on my Ibis white a4. Looks pretty good. Will post pics soon.

To start off, I am definitely not an expert, as this is my first Audi, but I will tell you what I have seen.

I am not sure if the Nav can be added to the 2009 if it did not have it before. I have an 09 a4 prestige with nav, and there are a few differences in the console layout. I drove one with and without nav before I bought the one I have now, and if I recall, if you do not have nav, the MMI controls are on the dash, rather than in the console (so no NAV button on the MMI if it is on the dash). In addition, I believe that the a4 without nav has the red drivers display rather than the full color display. I think the a6 may come v pre-wired (I have a friend with an a6 w/o nav, but the button is still there), but I am not sure about the 09 a4.
