I've relatively inexperienced - just bought my first car ever four weeks ago. It's a 2012 A4, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission, and was lightly used when I bought it.

One thing I've noticed is that after I turn the car off and am outside the car, there's always a click click click click noise that persists for a few minutes coming from the bottom of the car near the front passenger side door. The pattern of the noise sounds like a drip drip drip drip of some fluid, but the sound itself doesn't sound like a liquid drip but rather more like the clicking of some old-school electrical switch.

I only noticed this recently, after I hit a few relatively minor potholes. But I'll admit I wasn't really paying attention before, so it's possible that this sound has been here all long.

Any idea what this is? Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with the most expensive thing I've ever owned? Yikes.

Just the exhaust cooling down. I don't see any issues with it. Unless your dripping something, then you got a issue.

 

The description does sound like a cooling exhaust. It's also worthwhile noting that Audis do a lot of housekeeping even with the ignition off. I hear brief electric motor sounds from mine when I'm puttering around in the garage.
