The other day I tried to partially open my convertible top because a piece of the interior fabric got caught in it. Ever since, the top won't open. When I start the car the light on the dash flashes to indicate a malfunction and when I try, the top unlatches but doesn't go any further.

My question is where do I start with troubleshooting? I checked and all fuses are good. I went thru the reset process several times and still it doesn't work. Does vag-com talk to the top control module and can it tell me where to start?

Is there a fuse at the pump or motor? Where is the mechanism so I can test the pump / motor?

Any information would be extremely helpful and appreciated.

 

On each side there's a plastic piece that's attached to the roof frame but is broken. I don't know if they have anything to do with why the top won't work...
