A Few Concerns

First time Audi owner
Hi All
I've recently bought a 2008 Audi A4 2.0 TDI 6SP and was very pleased with it, Until now I've only drove petrol cars so I'm still getting used to the different feel and sound of a diesel car.
But soon after buying it I noticed a few things.
The car was due a timing belt, so I had it replaced but now on a cold start the engine makes an odd knocking sound, like something banging against a plastic panel, but this is only on and off for the first 30 seconds, can't hear it at all if started when already warmed up.
Another thing I've noticed is that when the front wheels go over a ridge or bump, the front of the car bounces two or three times unlike the rear of the car which only bounces once! I suspect a front shock is to blame.
The car also shudders on and off when accelerating and sometimes when cruising at low speeds, maybe a CV joint or clutch?
I've already booked it in for full service and for the above issues to be looked at but I've no idea if the car is safe to drive until then as I've got 300 miles to drive for work reasons before handing the car into the garage.
