Default Infant Car Seat & 2009 A4

Have a little on the way and my wife's 2009 Audi A4 has the latch system. When installing a rear facing infant Car seat (Graco Snugride), should it go in the center of the back seat or behind the driver? The center does not appear to have any latches. Do I use the inside latch from either side? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A few comments:

1) if you have the optional "rear side airbags", I believe you should definitely go for the center mount position - you should be able to use the inside latch's on either side to secure it, but I'm not sure if the hump in the middle seat position might cause the seat to be a little wobbly.

2) assuming you don't have the optional rear side airbags, the center position is probably still the safest, but behind the driver would certainly be easier to take the seat (and your baby) in and out, and the base would probably "sit" better in that seat position vs on the center hump. Also, putting the seat behind the driver's seat also keeps the seat/baby on the "far" side of the car when you're turning left accross oncoming traffic.

3) putting the seat behind the passenger seat gives you the benefit of being able to see/reach back to your baby if it's just the 2 of you in the car.

Congrats and good luck!

Default Try Passenger Side

Hi,

We just put in a rear facing infant car seat in an 09 Avant and it didn't fit behind the driver's side. So the seat is on the passenger side and with a mirror on the rear passenger side headrest we are able to check the status of our baby.

Congrats on your new arrival.
