K&n cai for 2010 a4 quattro
I am thinking about ordering the k&n cold air intake(part no. 69-9505T)...Has anyone tried this thing yet? As far as the install, i read that k&n recommends that you disconnect the neg battery post. Will this wipe out my APR flash that i have installed? Any other concerns about the cai or install? thanks fellas
This is just my opinion from someone who has bought way too many cars, modified most of them and worked as a mechanic in a dealership for 15+ years. You will not notice 18HP but you will notice the sounds and that will let you think it has more power, you mind will tell you that if "feels" faster but in reality of you tested this car for actual results on a track you wouldn't see a change.
Now I'm guilty as well for putting on CAI and other bolt on goodies but I got to a point where why spend all this money for to add tiny amount of hp when you could invest in some more significant modifications that really show up.
Again here is my opinion, I cannot stand listening to the rice grinders and there overly loud DV or pop off valves, ask your self why do they do that? it doesn't add any power, it just makes an annoying noise that sounds like something is wrong with the motor.
It's just an opinion and I say go for it and buy the CAI, let us know how it performs. To be honest I'm tempted but then the killer for me is the noise. My car shouldn't sound like Darth Vader. I feel it really cheapens the car. I have modified my car by installing a flashed ECU from the dealer and the claims on it are in the 50HP range (261hp/305lbft). I'm not all that impressed but I can feel a SMALL difference, I guess its unfair to this car since I sold my 505hp E63 and bought this; minor difference in HP
