Default MMI oil level gauge

Our 2010 Audi A4 has an electronic oil level gauge. We've always had it serviced at the Audi dealer, who now says it should read half full normally, instead of "max" as it used to read after service.

I have trouble believing it should read half full. And do not find anyone asking this question. Answers anyone?

Tell the dealer you want a statement from Audi that agrees with he said. Also look at the owners manual as it shows/tells you that it should read full but anything in between the full and add is OK. The only thing I could think he meant was it is OK to drive the car even though the level shows half full. You might also want to ask him if he could modify the program to read full all of the time . Something like VW did on the emissions . After all they are the same company so they have the same credibility.

It should read "full" after servicing (i.e, oil change). But it can be driven until it hits minimum and the check oil light appears. At that point I would for sure add a quart.
