Default A5 MMI - Oil level indicator problem

Hello:

I have a new A5 2.0T. It has 1,400 miles on it and I noticed that the oil level on the MMI had come down close to the minimum level. I read in the owner's manual that if it came down you should add .5 liters of oil, wait 2 minutes and then check the MMI again to see that it has increased.

I added the specified amount and waited 2 minutes, but the Oil Level indicator is saying the following:

"There is currently no information on the oil level available."

Has anyone seen this? I am expecting a trip to the dealer, but thought I would ask.

I am not sure I am crazy about Audi doing away with the dipstick.

Thanks in advance,
Clarke

Disregard this message. It reset itself. It took a little longer 2 minutes, but is ok now.

I have received this message. If I remember correctly, it might have been because the motor was running when I checked the oil level. If it was not the motor thing then ensure the ignition is on without the motor running. Do not put your foot on the break and press the key into the slot and release it.

best practice is to just wait till your oil warning light comes on, then add more, and change it at your regular intervals. if it comes on, you have well over 1800 miles before you are danger.

The MMI indicator has to be timed just right since it is reading oil in the oil pan only when clearly there could be some still in the engine even while it provides a reading.

Better idea...just order a real dipstick, and be done with the MMI hassle.

That's what I did.

This is the part number for the OEM Oil dipstick for 1.8/2.0 TFSI: 06J 115 611 E
