I have a 2009 A4 with nav. I recently bought the USB AMI adapter to hook up an external hdd. Every time I try to hook it up it says the device or cable is not recognized or some garbage like that. I have a USB thunb device that works fine and my phone is hit or miss on the connection but I think it is a phone software problem more-so.

I currently have SW: B8-HU 46.1.0.0805 and I was looking to see if ther was an update to the system that I could get to remedy the problem.

I have already converted my hard drive to FAT32 as I know that is the disk format that can be read. Maybe I am still missing something but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a ton.

It may depend on the power demands of the HD. If it demands more than the USB connection can supply, you will have problems. Most of my HD drives work but not all.

I just gave in and bought a USB2.0 drive. im still having the same issues though. It is only a 2,5in. drive so I can't imagine that power usage would be THAT crazy. The new one is a Seagate Expansion 500gb. My new question is that maybe I dont have the most up to date software?
