As my username suggests, I love BMWs.....been around them most of my life, but I also have a love for all things European and I have finally realized that I want to venture out into the world of Audi!

I'm looking at 2013/2014 A4s and would like to know what are the must haves?
-Premium/Premium Plus/Prestige?

I have difficulty what actually is offered for each one.

2nd, while I tease myself with the possibility of buying an Audi A4 in the $20-$30k price range, this also seems to open the door to 2010/2011 S4. I am looking a couple and one has 44k miles while the other has 64k miles.

Any significant areas of concern for the A4/S4? I want the Quattro/4WD capability which is primarily why I want an Audi and I think the recent styling just blows BMW away.....

Lastly, I'm extremely active on the BMW boards and also a DIY kind of guy. What are the best Audi enthusiast sites?

The packages include extras without having to purchase them separately. The order you listed them in are also the order which includes more options.
1. Premium is the base package. It just comes with the stock audio, stock rims, stock suspension, stock everything.
2. Premium plus usually adds stuff like auto dimming mirrors or keyless entry and Headlight upgrade
3. Prestige offers a nice package of upgraded stereo, MMI and of course everything the other packages offered.

These packages all differ from model to model and year to year. So there is no 100% perfect answer for what packages offers what. You would have to check what's on the webpage (if you buy new) or go through archives.

In regards to the model: I would go for the S4 (actually I did! LOL). This car is a beast compared to the A4. I picked the prestige model, fully loaded with the additional sport upgrade (s4 with sport package, strange but that's how they sold it) and I have not come across any a4 that impressed me since. The Prestige came with the B&O sound system, Navi, and pretty much everything you can hope for in the "A4" class. On top I found a manual version that came with the escort 9500ci built in. Price was around 30k with 56k miles

I've had the car for a year now and absolutely no problems. The only thing that people were concerned about was the water pump (premature failure) but most of those models should have the upgraded pump by now since they recalled it.

There are many enthusiast sites out there. You found one already, another one is VWvortex as well as Audiworld.com ... just to a google search if you run into any questions and you will most likely find plenty of good forums.

So, here's my thing.....the A4 with a CPO warranty, for me, is beating out any S4....why? I have a 700hp M3 to satisfy my power cravings. The A4 with the prestige package, and turbocharged engine is so damn appealing.....if the S4 had a turbocharger, I'd have more of a issues deciding between the two. I think I found a nice premium plus A4 that I'm going to go with. As much as I'd love a Prestige package, there just aren't any really available with lower mileage. If I could find a CPO 2015 with 15k miles in gray or blue, I'd work out a deal right now!

Are there a set of pre-coded features I should ensure the Audi dealer has programmed that I may not be aware of?

I.e.-doors lock after moving faster than 10 mph, side mirrors angle down when in reverse, daytime running lights, etc? Any place I can find a list of these features to turn on or even off prior to leaving the dealer?

Made the purchase a love the car so far! Only 2 x issues I see:

1) The "start engine" graphic snagged on a microfiber towel, lifting points of both "N"s to the point where they were points that cut me when I pressed down!!!! I had to remove those parts so I could push it! Is this something that would be replaced under warranty??? If not, are there replacements?

2) The trammling that I feel while cruising. It seems I'm constantly making adjustments to keep the car straight. Almost like I'm always driving in windy conditions. I have 19" wheels with Conti DWS (brand new) so I'll give it some mileage before I make a fuss, but is this due to the electronic steering?

So I left the dealer with the notion that they put 4 brand new tires on. I had a Maryland state inspection and found fronts are 7/32 and rears are 10/32.....should I make a fuss? The tires weren't part of the negotiation. Looked at the service record and it just said mount and balance 4 tires....

I would at least try but since that was not verbally promised and it was not in the I owe you letter - I don't think you have anything but the kindness of their heart to negotiate with. So unless they have a great reputation or you have some great contacts with them, I highly doubt they will do anything.
Seeing that even if they agree they will slap the cheapest tires they can find on there and you might be better off getting the tires you want instead.
