Default Newbie with a tuning question...

Hello all,

I am the proud new owner of a A4 S-Line, 2011. As the title states, I am looking for tuning options for my new ride. I am familiar with Unitronic and Rocket Chip from my VW experience. My understanding is that the 2011 flash is not ready as of yet. I am in Montreal, QC and do not want to send out my ECU. Suggestins and opinions would be apprecited.

Thanks,

NRC

Well, after 100 views and over two weeks with no replies, I have done my own research and made my decision. I will be going with Unitronic. The ODB flash is not ready for a few weeks for the 2011 ECU, but Mike (the owner), will have it ready by September. A chip tune is currently available, however it involves removal and sauderring of the ECU which I am not interested in. I looked at ARP and GIAC as well, however Unitronic is a local Montreal area based company and I like the fact of having them close by should any issues arise. Or if I need to flash back to stock for any warranty work. Plus the owner is a friend of a friend who is also aTDI enthousiast like me. Once chipped I will post my results for others who may be interested.

Unitronic Chipped - Chip Tuning / performance Software for VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Opel and Porsche

To be honest, I was a little hesitant to post this thread as these types of questions usually spark "tuning wars"... Just been my experience with other forums... tdiclub.com. I am quite surprised that not even one reply or opinion was voiced. C'est la vie.... as we say here in QC.

Default I went APR

Originally went with them b/c ESC Tuning was close to me but after being jerked around by their sales department I will never buy from them again. APR software is good but its not enough for me, go right to the Testpipe and software if you can and if not get a high flow cat with software. The Stage I software is pretty lame in my opinion.

APR stage 1 ECU lame? I was thinking about getting that because one in not too far from my house. What software do you recommend? I AM in the position to be able to send out my ECU as this is a project car, not a daily.

i enjoy the APR stage 1 tune alot. it doesn't require any aftermarket parts. 30 extra HP and 75 extra lb-ft of torque is not lame.

esandes - So you have just the software upgrade? No intake or anything? How is it? I would really like to start with this aas a mod and then go from there, your input is appreciated.

yeah i only have the stage 1 ECU upgrade and nothing else. the engine feels more responsive and it pulls alot harder with less effort (downshifting). it's noticably quicker. it's probably the only mod i'll do. the stage 2 stuff and beyond calls for aftermarket parts such as a test pipe or bigger exhaust.

every now and then APR has sales. i got my stage 1 for $599 installed.
