Default Oil change

I just bought a MityVac to change my A4 2010 engine oil. No matter how hard I tried I can only extract a max of 4 quart (the engine specs shows 4.8 quart). Hence after I top up with new synthetic mobil1 oil and run the engine a bit, the oil is still black.

The way I know the oil is still black is because I would use the Mityvac to extract the overfill.

Is this normal for the extraction method? Thanks all.

Make sure that the engine/oil is warm and that the car is level. Allow the warm engine to sit several minutes to allow the oil to drain back into the pan. You might wiggle the Mytivac hose around to see the it is properly placed for maximum retrieval of the oil. I suck out what there is in the engine, replace the filter and add 5 qts. Never had an overfill issue.

I always use the drain plug. Also drain & remove the oil filter first before draining the engine oil. More oil drains down to the oil pan when the filter is removed.
