Default Removing bluetooth phone

For the life of me I cannot find how to remove my old phone from the Bluetooth menu of the car's BT phone. Whenever I select 'Phone' on the MMI it says 'Bluetooth phone may not be connected' or something of that nature. I can't find any where within any of the menus to remove this phone's pairing from the car. I've tried the factory reset option but that still gives the same message. Is there a procedure that needs to be performed in order to either remove the phone from the paired list or completely wipe the pairing history of the car's BT phone? Any help would be appreciated. I don't see any Bluetooth Phone information in the owner's manual but I only glanced at the index quickly.
