SD Card - 512 songs limit?
Hi all.
I received my new A4 Avant in January 2010, and I have been using the iPhone to control my music library.
I recently got a 16GB Sandisk SD Card and it has been read fine by the radio.
Problem is that doesn't matter how many songs I put in it, the limit is 512. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?
I have 2000 songs and I'd like to have them all in the SD card!
Thank you for your help!

I have the same model and I've been dealing with this issue since day 1. My previous car had an Mp3 jack, so I used my Creative Zen. I do not want to buy an Ipod, so I needed to make this SD card reader work for me.
My lessons learned so far:
1. Put all songs in folders (either by artist or folder A-C, D-F, etc.)
2. Do not put a folder within a folder.
3. Dont use compressed (.zip) folders
I've managed to put 8GB of music on a 16GB card and it seems to be holding (takes a minute or 2 to load). I'm not sure the limit, but if you find out, let me know.

SD cards are fat32 format, but fat16 had a 512 file per folder limit.
of course you could just make more folders.
2GB and smaller cards are fat16, so audi might have hardcoded the folder browse limits to 512 instead of say detecting if the card was fat32 and using its higher limit per folder (i think something like 32k files).
anyhow, proabbly just a slightly lazy coding job . 2009 audis only supported 2GB and smaller cards so maybe they just did not update it so i guess you will have to make a new folder for ever 512 entries.
