How long will Porsche allow this car to continue? Now that they own the controlling stake I figured they will kill it to save their precious 911.

 

People who are looking to buy a 911 aren't looking for an R8. Not all supercars are built for the same clientele.

 

Plus the 911 is waaaaay better looking

 

For a base 911 such as a Carrera I would agree. Not so sure I agree that the 911 TT buyer or the GT2 buyers aren't also looking at the R8 and thinking it might be a better alternative.

 

I have to stop you on that 1. The 911 can't hold a candle to the r8 in any fashion show. The R8 is a "super car". The Porsche is not. I would take that V10 R8 and romp all over that 911 all damn day! And when it comes down to better looking.. Not even a question. R8 hands down! The Porsche body stlye is old and boring.
