Default Pricing on R8 seems to be Clear as Mud..

I had read in a car rag (not sure which one) that Audi said the R8 would be priced at the same level as a Porsche 911.. After reading this, I started drooling thinking of driving my $70000 R8 through the streets. Then I thought about it a minute and realized that the car magazine never said WHICH 911 it will be priced like.

Looking at Coupes only, I went to Autobytel and priced out a bare bones, no thrills 2005 911 Carrera, the price :: $69,300
I did the same for the 2005 911 Turbo S Coupe shich starts at a MSRP of ~$133,000
So naturally you would think the price would be between $70 and $133 right? WRONG.. If you add in the options Porsch provides,

http://www.autobytel.com/content/res...Action/Options

you will realize that Porsche makes an UNBELIEVABLE amount of silly options for this car, such as:
Leather mounted on Dome Lamp Cover - $335
Leather on Defroster Cover - $535
Guards Red Seatbelts - $540
Leather Located On B Pillar Clothes Hook - $275
Aluminum Located on Back Rests - $1495
and my favorite..
Deviated Color Stitching Located On Seats - $490

Chock these options in with a full Aero kit, carbon package, sport wheels and a number of other cosmetic and performance options and You're looking at a FULLY Loaded 911 Turbo that could run you $182,000!!!

Therefore, what we really know from the Audi folks is that they have stated the new R8 will cost somewhere between $70 and $182k... Great!

I'll bet that the R8 is going to be a lower production car than the 911. Maybe the comparison should be to Lambos instead - same for the pricing.

Some of the pricey 911 options that kill me are the "power option" for $16000, some PCCB brakes for $8000, and the sport chrono for over $900, or you can get some carbon fiber interior work for around $6000. These things add up fast. They aren't shy about asking for some top dollar. I doubt that Audi will be very shy in its pricing of the R8, so you should start saving up or find some really kick *** lottery numbers.

The cost of thread HAS remained the same, BUT, the cost of TRANSPORTING that thread to the thread-using-people has SKYROCKETED, lately...

I settle for some pricing info on the S6. It seems to be some kind of secret at this point.

Yes, we once priced out the "reasonably" priced Porsche Boxster S at over $110k, with as many options as you could fit on it. For a Boxster!

As far as the R8, I'm going to go about two centimeters out on this here limb and guesstimate a price around $156,995.00 + taxes/destination/gas guzzler tax. Knowing Zee Chermans, that was probably the first statistic they knew about the car.

They say they're building it to compete with the 911 and the DB9, but there's only one 911 out there with numbers like that, the GT2. Both of those cars are high 100s, so don't expect a C6 Z06 style bargain bruiser.

You are wasting time speculating on pricing. Just look the RS4. Everyone has been guessing at that one for months and months. $70k??? $100k???? We don't know till very close to delivery.

They need to differntiate from the Gallardo. That is, after all, just a fancy Audi. It will be less than the Gallardo (But of course that does not include extras such as steering wheel, seats and glass).

I am fascinated to know that you do not know the price of the RS4. In the UK it is almost exactly GBP 50 000. Assuming that you get it for less and with more kit, I would guess $60k.

When do you guys get the new TT. I saw one on a transporter yesterday completely wrapped in plastic with clear platic windscreen and back window for taking it on and off the transporter. It even had plastic over the wheels. Nice shape though - it was a coupe version and delivered to Audi Zaventem in Brussels in case anyone wants to go and have a look!

educated guess tells me that this thing has to be at the 180k point. The reasons

1. most definately will be a hand built versus assembly line
2. limited production
3. it is supposed to beat a 991 TURBO
4. It wears the legendary R8 nametag
5. Low pricing would cause a split between rs4's and R8 (compitition in your own house between vehicles is never good)
6. Never have we seen a audi badged with a R, only S that demands a 10-20k price increase.
7. It will more than likely be the best in its class.

i could be wrong, but in this day in age high performance supercars are the most expensive automobiles in the world, and i doubt audi would be the compnay to try and change that.

The official audi website now has the RS4 at $66,000 + $750 destination charge. You can add the premium package for another $4700.

I think the R8 will be $100K+. Lexus is coming out with a new supercar and I think the R8 will be priced like it.
