Default 1987 5000 Seats

I just bought some power seats out of the aforementioned 87 5000, and I need to wire them up, what with the manual seats I have right now. Does anyone have a wiring diagram, or suggestions on where I could get one? How friendly are auto repair places when it comes to letting their repair manuals get copied? Thanks, I am kind of scared about the amount of wires coming from these seats.

If the seats are anything like the ones on my 91 100Q then you are in for some job. The seats have a computer that enables you to save up to 4 memory settings. Press a button and watch the seat move by itself.

Most shops won't let you open the cellophane wrapper forget about copying the manual. A Haynes manual might be a cheap alternative to the factory. Look on eBay you might find one for cheap.

OK, so I messed around with them today. I figured out half the wires were for the seat heaters (which don't work any more), so I junked 'em. On the passenger seat, that left two wires, the power and ground, and I managed to get the back to move, but nothing else. I was using a 120VAC to 12VDC converter, and it only put out one amp, so I think it was underpowered. The driver's side was pretty much the same, except for the memory controls. Since I don't have any of that stuff (I guess it's usually in the dash?), I'm going to ignore it, and just run power. We'll see how things run once I hook it to a car battery.

Oh, and what kind of fuse should I be running here? 10 Amp, 20 Amp??? Don't want to go frying the nice new seats, now.

Same as I offered elsewhere.

Tell me which model it is, I'll scan the schematic and attach to an e-mail, probably half a dozen pages. 84 to 88 Haynes manual schematic.

Cheers,

George

hell, might have to scan the whole electrical part, at this rate.
