Default Need some advice on my new project. 1987 5000 cs

Well, not too long ago, my girlfriend purchased a 1987 5000 cs turbo(sadly, not a quattro) as her first car. She paid 500 for it, and it worked as a nice car for her for a little while. It constantly would have some sort of electrical problem, and i would constantly fix it. it sat for a few months, until we needed to move it. amazingly, after jumping it, it started right up with no problem(had a rough idle and shot some carbon and rust out the tail pipe, but a quick test drive fixed that). I've decided to make this my new project. i don't want to spend an incredible fortune on it, but i wanna fix it up, give it some more power, louder exhaust, etc. just make it something i would have fun driving on the weekends, and make it have the ablity to be raced with very little modifications.

I just need some advice on where to start. i think i'm gonna start with gutting the interior, rewiring parts and fixing the door locks. but as far as how to tune the performance on the 5 cyl turbos, i'm at a loss. not even 8 years experience as a mechanic can help me there.

also, the car has a really bad torque on/torque off pull, in other words when you accelarate it pulls in one direction, and when you let off it pulls in the other. I believe this to be the trans mounts. how much would something like that cost?

thanks in adcance for your advice
