1989 Audi 90
Hi All,
I have been working on this car for a while. I have had to rebuild the tranny and get the car running. It had not been run in over 2 years so ya, it's been a lot of work. I do not have any manuals for this car. I am in need of knowing what the timing is .. and how to set it on this car plus I need to check the vacuum. If anyone has some help for me here, I would appreciate it. I can not get the timing mark to stay smooth. It keeps moving on me. I am thinking it's a vacuum problem but don't know thebest place to check it and what it should be. Thanks in advance for the help.

the 2.0 / 2.2 / 2.3 are all 5 cylinder so ill post both data ( 2.0 and 2.3 are the same but the 2.2 is different, ill download them there are 4 in all and you should be able to tell what the engine is by the pictures

Thanks Dave,
I have the 2.3 engine. I am guessing the timing mark is the little bump on the flywheel and not a groove like most american cars are. I have put a light on it but the mark jumps around a lot. Do you have any idea what may be doing that?

idle problem could be the dipstick ( it is sealed with an O ring when inserted ) if its loose when in then there will be air drawn into the engine via that tube and you can buy the O ring,
2.0 and 2.3 are 20 valve engines ans the 2.2 isn't and that's the difference
