I have a 1990 Audi 80 and I need to replace the tranny, but I can't seem to locate the code for it. I was told by an Audi dealership there should be a sticked in the trunk area, but I've pretty much torn it apart looking for it. I was also told it should be on the bell housing, but the mechanic couldn't find it. Honestly, I don't think he looked that hard.

I've found several replacements, but I need to know which one is the right type for my car. Can someone help he either find the tranny code (like, maybe even a photo of "hey idiot, it should be here!") figure out which one it is.

1990 Audi 80, front wheel drive, automatic trans, 4 door sedan, 2.0l L4 FI engine, I'm fairly sure it's the 3 speed not the 4. The shifter has Drive, 2, and 1 (if that means anything, I'm not a car guy so I assume this is how I'd determine it's the 3 not the 4 speed).

Have pity on a car noob.
