Default 1991 Audi 100 Questions

Hi new to the forum. I just got a 1991 100 for free and it has some quarks i would like to get rid of/replace. First question is i take the key out of the ignition and i am still able to move the windows up and down with the door open??? Previous owner said that it had a ground out issue. Next question is with the driver side window not going up and down? If i hit the button up it makes a click noise like a relay switch. Any common problems, fixes for this??? Third question is the blower motor dont work. How hard is it to replace that??? I need to put in a new headliner because the car was deheadlined and then drawn on in the orange foam stuff. Any ideas of how to make a new one?? I think that is about it for now. Any anwsers would greatly appreciated. Thanks

well i cant help you with all of them but. the window not going up sounds like A (the cheaper problem) its jammed. I have seen the rubber seal come unglued in a small spot and then it slides is self down in to the window slot and jams it. this is really easy to see and if you see it down in there just pull it out and you should be good to go till it does it again. or you could have a bad actuator that gets pricey to replace. but sense you hear it click i think its something jamming the window. as for the ignition switch its not turning fully to the off position. can be caused my LOTS of wires being crossed/loose exc. welcome to Audi's. for a fix get a wiring diagram and start chasing wires or just remember to no leave the radio on and carry jumper cables. as for the blower motor in my experience with audi's they are not that bad to get too. open the hood and take a look Haynes manuals are great for things like that. hope i could help some

Thanks for the help. As it gets warmer here in michigan i will work the the car more. I also have one more question regarding the oil pressure. According to the guage it reads over 5 bar. Over 75 psi sounds abnormal to me and the little screen on the guage cluster has a oil can on it??? Could this be a oil pressure sender unit problem???

I will try that. Never really did check the oil level. Any kind of oil you would recommend for this perticular car? It has 181,xxx miles on it and has a tick in the engine. Possible rocker rattle??

its recommended you DON'T go synthetic. I've heard a few opinions as to why. I've heard that because of the differences between synthetic/traditional oil, the synthetic can leak through the seals or something like that. Also, I've been told it's best to go synthetic from new or not at all. But I've been wondering as to a certain brand for a while, it's nearing time for an oil change.

the ticking is probably the valve heads it can be caused by lots of things. the most common cause is bad oil. use some good stuff get the right amount and not synthetic. it can also be caused by the timing being a little off. but if i car has not been driven much or has bad oil it can happen. I don't know about 100's but i know on 4000's is normal for that ticking to happen for about the first 30 min of the car being on if it keeps going then you should be worried. but change the oil and that should fix it.
